Economic growth down to 0.4% in 2016

The Department of Statistics released today its preliminary estimate of real growth, at 0.4% for the year 2016 and final estimate of 0.5% for 2015. This is the second year running that real economic growth has remained under 1 percent, with a slightly worsening position in 2016 than the year before.

Prices have increased compared to April 2017

The Consumer Price Index for Sint Maarten has increased in the month of June 2017 by 0.5 percent compared to that of April 2017.

When comparing average consumer prices over a twelve month period (June 2016 to June 2017) an inflation rate of 1.4% is recorded.

Unemployment rate down to 6.2% in 2017

The Department of Statistics (STAT) released today main results of its 2017 Labour Force Survey.

The Labour Force Survey (LFS) is a sample survey among households with the broad aim to measure the recent developments of the labour market.
